Biography
Gao is the former director-general of China CDC (2017-2022), former vice-president of National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) (2018-2022) and former director-general of Institute of Microbiology，Chinese Academy of Sciences(IMCAS) (2004-2008). He is a member (academician) of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), an international member of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences (NAS), a foreign member of the U.K. Royal Society (RS), a member of the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina.
